“On every learning journey day, there will be heavy rain.” This is told to us by different tutors. This Thursday, we would have a visit to Singapore Science Center in the afternoon, and it really rained in the morning! However, when the clock stroke 12, the dark clouds disappeared and the temperature went up quickly. Frankly speaking, I preferred a day with no hot sunlight.
The first place we visited in Science Center was the omni-theater. The theater uses the IMAX technology. The screen is a dome which is 5-stories high. In fact, I have heard it in China, but I never thought that I would be able to see it in Singapore. The pictures were so vivid and verisimilar that I felt myself immersed in the world of the movie. The movie was about Sea Monsters in the dinosaurian age. I was totally stunned. It was marvelous. However, there was only a small deficiency. As I lay down and looked up to the dome, I sometimes felt dizzy and a bit sick. Nonetheless, the movie was good.
Then we went for other places. The most impressing thing was that the center was not only a place for visitors, but also a big class for primary students. We saw many pupils there. In a building called “Atrium” when I climb to the third floor, I found many labs named after scientists such as Newton, Faraday and Fermi. I tried to enter some of the labs, but I found that the labs were full of pupils. And then, two men in uniform came over and said: “The students are having their lessons. Please do not disturb them.” Then I went back to the stairs and found a sign indicating that “only officially relevant people are admitted to enter the story.” In China, a museum can never been a classroom for elementary school students. Maybe the large population is the only thing to blame again.
At the end of the blog, I feel like saying that I had a good journey this Thursday.
Well, for any learning journey, it is the objective of the organiser to have students learn something from it. Despite the response given by the class, I'm glad you have a positive response for the trip.
