The Magic Singapore Zoo

The Magic Singapore Zoo
Last Monday, we went to the Singapore Zoo with dear Ms Jenny Lun in the hospitality programme. Just before we went there, we were all full of expectations because the zoo has really a good reputation here. We all pictured different images of the zoo in our minds. But when we reached there, we were still surprised so much. The zoo is beyond our imagination. It’s so marvellous and natural.
In china, the zoo is much like a place providing custody of the animals. We always see that the animals are just barred or closed within the iron cages or behind high fences. The zoo is made of iron, wood and concrete. It’s just an artificial building or hotel for animals whose habitants were destroyed by us. The theme of setting the zoo is to protect the animals and rebuild a homeland for them. But most of the animals cannot enjoy their life here and it seems that they are just kept alive by man to ensure the biological diversity. But here, in the Singapore zoo, animals are really having a good time freely and happily. The zoo is just like a passage built into the wild world to protect the visitors from being attacked by the wild animals. We are the guests, while animals are actually the hosts. We have to keep polite and careful in their home. You will never see iron fences or high concrete walls in it. The arrangement and building style of the zoo can exactly remind tourists of the equality between man and animals. The scenery in the zoo is really beautiful and natural. Green hills, trees, flowers, wooden houses, streams and big reservoir...Besides the magic animals in the zoo, the greenery is also a feast for eyes.
There are many animal shows in the zoo through the day. After every show, the conductor will advocate the theme of protecting animals and their ecological habitants to the visitors. I think this is the original purpose of setting up zoos. The Singapore Zoo has really set a good example in this field.
You can see otters, crocodiles, turtles, chimpanzees, butterflies, monkeys and Komodo dragons here which are mainly spread in the tropical areas. But you can still find penguins, polar bears, sea cows and sea lions which live in the cold areas. One magic experience we had is the encounter with a wolf. When we went to see the wolves, a small forest just came into our eyes. We tried to find the wolves that may hid themselves in the jungles. Suddenly a yellow wolf appeared in front of us. We were all frightened and just retreated backwards as soon as possible. But then we found that the wolf cannot reach us because there was a deep trench between the passage and wolf area. A fence was built in it but it was concealed by the exuberant leaves. Then we are all released and began to take photos with the aloof but magic creature.
You can feel the naturalness and wildness of the Singapore zoo obviously. And I strongly advise you to go there and enjoy this marvel. One ticket is $18. Maybe it is a little expensive but it is really worth that money.
